Today, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced that single-sex facilities in the Capitol and House office buildings are now reserved exclusively "for individuals of that biological sex," ensuring that women will not have to contend with men using their private spaces on Capitol grounds.
The American Principles Project (APP) expressed support for this decision, sending a memo to all Republican congressional offices highlighting popular support among American voters for keeping men out of female-only spaces.
APP President Terry Schilling released a statement praising the speaker’s decision: "Men do not belong in the women’s restroom. It’s unbelievable that this even needs to be stated. But thanks to the Democrats’ far-left culture war, women’s private spaces across the country have been opened up to men. This has led to predictably horrific consequences, such as the recent case in Loudoun County, Virginia, where a high school girl was assaulted by a male student in her school’s bathroom. Incredibly, however, Democrats have only doubled down on their insane stance in the aftermath of such incidents."
Schilling continued: "Fortunately, Republican leaders are standing up on behalf of the rights of women and girls and against the far left’s radical agenda. We thank Speaker Johnson for acting to protect the privacy and safety of women’s spaces in the U.S. Capitol, and we encourage political leaders nationwide to make this a priority."
