The City of Alexandria has announced that the 2025 George Washington Birthday Parade will take place on Saturday, February 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. This year marks a special occasion as it celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War with the theme “George Washington: America’s Commander in Chief.”
Mayor Justin Wilson expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “The George Washington Birthday Parade is always a great time, and I’m particularly excited for this one. It will be my first chance to experience it as a resident rather than a Member of Council in a long time, and I’m lucky that it’s a milestone celebration, so it should really be something special.”
Parade registration begins on November 22. Participants can register at an early bird rate of $75 until January 15. The parade is supported by community sponsorships and donations.
Alexandria has honored Washington's legacy with this parade since 1801. This year, over 1,000 participants are expected to march through Old Town Alexandria. The parade will feature drum corps, color guards, bands, community organizations, youth groups, local merchants, city dignitaries, and historical figures like General George and Martha Washington.
The City maintains its status as host to the oldest and largest George Washington Birthday Parade in the nation. A full schedule of events celebrating Washington's birthday will be released later this year.
