The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services oversees the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road. Their programs for repaving, patching, sidewalks, and alleys are part of a commitment to keeping infrastructure in good condition for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users.

Businesses and residents on streets scheduled for repaving receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted before work begins. It is important to observe these signs to avoid tickets and potential towing.

The Street Repaving list and schedule may change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment issues, other ongoing projects in the city, or coordination with utility work.

From August 26 to September 1, asphalt repairs are planned for the 100 Block of North Henry Street and the 600 Block of Mount Vernon Avenue. Asphalt repairs have been completed on the 400 Block of North Jordan Street.
