The City of Alexandria has announced the initiation of the Housing 2040 Master Plan process. This new plan aims to update the 2013 Housing Master Plan, which set out principles and strategies to address housing needs in Alexandria through 2025. The updated plan will extend these efforts to 2040, focusing on establishing new housing affordability goals and examining policies, programs, and tools to support residents and workers.

Two events are planned as part of this kickoff. The first event is a virtual session scheduled for September 18 from 7-9 p.m., where participants can learn about the Housing Needs Assessment and the purpose, timeline, and engagement process of Housing 2040. Interpretation services will be available in Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto.

The second event is an in-person meeting on September 25 at the Charles Houston Recreation Center Gym from 7-9 p.m., with an open house starting at 6 p.m. This gathering aims to help shape the principles, goals, and projects of Housing 2040. A light dinner will be served, and interpretation services will again be provided in multiple languages.
