One notable event is the "Liberation of Paris Garden Party," celebrating the 80th anniversary of Paris's liberation. The British Officers Club, Washington DC, along with the Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee, will host this event on September 14 at Lloyd House. Attendees are invited to enjoy swing music and dancing while dressed in 1940s attire.
Another significant event is the "Civil War Camp Day" at Fort Ward Museum on September 28. This free annual living history event features military reenactors performing infantry and artillery drills, equipment displays, and more.
For those interested in archaeology, the "Archaeology through the Ages" event at Alexandria Archaeology Museum on September 13 will provide insights into five decades of community archaeology in the city. Dr. Pam Cressey will share recollections about early archaeological efforts in Alexandria.
In celebration of its rich firefighting history, Alexandria will hold several events commemorating the Friendship Fire Company’s 250th anniversary. On September 14, there will be a muster featuring antique firefighting apparatus at Friendship Firehouse Museum. Additionally, an "Alexandria Fire History Symposium" is scheduled for September 15 at George Washington National Masonic Memorial.
