The City of Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities is set to offer its Power-On Summer Camp Program for children entering 1st through 6th grade in Fall 2025. Additionally, a Power-Up program will be available for those entering 6th through 9th grade. The summer camp will run from June 16 to August 8.
The cost for the Summer Power-On/Power-Up program is $459, with reduced fees available for those eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. Participants receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) benefits can attend at no charge. Fees may increase starting July 1.
These programs are exclusive to city residents and require pre-registration. A special pre-registration period is scheduled from February 2 to February 7 for residents who qualify for financial assistance. During this time, forms will be accessible online and at various locations including the Lee Center Registration and Reservation Office and several recreation centers across Alexandria.
Applicants must submit completed forms by February 7 to verify eligibility. A computerized lottery will determine applicant order and waitlist status if necessary. Notifications regarding registration and payment details will begin on February 12, with enrollment needing completion by February 18.
General online registration opens on February 19 at 9 a.m., followed by both in-person and online registration options on February 20 at neighborhood recreation centers or OSTP afterschool locations during operating hours.
