The City of Alexandria is set to celebrate its 275th anniversary with a series of events from July 8-14, 2024. A significant highlight is the celebration at Oronoco Bay Park on July 13, featuring live music by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

A new exhibition titled "Mapping Alexandria: Stories of a Changing City" has opened at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum. This exhibit offers insights into the city’s history through resident narratives and encourages visitors to contribute their stories.
Other events include a Community Cookout on July 9, USA vs Scotland rugby match on July 12, and trivia nights focused on Alexandria history starting from July 12 at Lee-Fendall House Museum.
The Alexandria Historical Society will conduct a walking tour about African American soldiers during the Civil War on July 13. Meanwhile, young historians will host family days every Sunday until Labor Day weekend at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum.
On July 18, Market Square will host an event commemorating the Fairfax Resolves' signing with various activities including performances by reenactors portraying historical figures like George Washington and George Mason.
Additionally, there are several ongoing programs such as arts enrichment grants for youth in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations funded by the American Rescue Fund Program for Alexandria.
Historic Alexandria invites residents to support its mission through donations as it continues to rely partly on these funds alongside city operational funding.
