The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services has announced its upcoming schedule for street maintenance and repaving from July 15 to July 21. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road in the city. These efforts aim to ensure safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users.

Residents and businesses affected by the scheduled repaving will receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be placed before work begins to prevent parking violations and potential towing.

The department reminds the public that the street repaving list and schedule are subject to change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, other city projects, and utility work coordination.

The streets scheduled for repaving during this period include Gunston Road from Valley Drive to Valley Drive, Sanford Street from West Mount Ida Avenue, Herbert Street from Commonwealth Avenue to Mount Vernon Avenue, Laird Place from Manor Road to Tennessee Avenue, and Milan Drive from West Glebe Road to Four Mile Road.

Additionally, asphalt repairs are planned for the 800 block of King Street at its intersection with Columbus Street, as well as the 3300 and 3400 blocks of Commonwealth Avenue.
