Alexandria invites public input on draft plan open until August

The City of Alexandria has opened the public comment period for the Draft Alexandria West Plan, allowing residents to provide feedback until August 1. The draft was initially presented at a community meeting on June 25 and is now available online for review.

Residents can submit their comments through several channels. Feedback can be given via the project page at alexandriava.gov/AlexandriaWest, where forms are available in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto. Additionally, comments can be sent via email or phone to Christian Brandt, Urban Planner, at christian.brandt@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703.746.3895 before the September public hearings.

Public hearings will be held by the Planning Commission and City Council on September 5 and 14. Updates on the AlexWest Plan will continue to be shared through eNews and WhatsApp with community groups and posted on the project webpage. This site also contains background information and a project schedule.

Zoom office hours are being hosted by staff to answer questions or provide clarification regarding the plan. These sessions are first-come-first-serve with each session lasting two hours. Upcoming sessions include:

- Wednesday, July 17 from 5 – 7 p.m.

- Thursday, July 25 from 3 – 5 p.m.

- Monday, July 29 from 9:30 –11:30 a.m.

Each session requires registration via provided Zoom links after which participants receive an access link and passcode.
