The City of Alexandria has announced the opening of ALX Closet, a new Clothing & Resource Center situated at the Del Pepper Community Resource Center. The grand opening is scheduled for Thursday, August 1, at 10 a.m., and members of the media are invited to attend.
ALX Closet aims to support children and families in Alexandria during emergencies or crises by providing essential items. The center will offer children's clothing up to size 14/16, along with gift cards when available. Additional resources include diapers, wipes, formula, toiletries, and hygiene products.
Community involvement is encouraged through donations of brand-new children's clothing up to size 16 and other listed items. Contributions can be delivered to the Del Pepper Community Resource Center. "Your tax-deductible contributions will make a significant difference in the lives of Alexandria's children and families," stated organizers.
The initiative is backed by The Center for Alexandria's Children and The Fund for Alexandria’s Child. The former provides prevention, intervention, and treatment programs for children and families in need. Meanwhile, The Fund processes requests for immediate assistance for basic needs and opportunities for children in foster care or those at risk of abuse or neglect.
