DASH bus services will operate normally on December 24 and 31, but follow a Sunday schedule on December 25 and January 1. The King Street Trolley will run daily from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square every 15 minutes between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Animal shelters have limited hours over the holidays, open only briefly on December 24 and 31. For emergencies or wildlife concerns, residents can call the provided hotline.

Courts will not be operational from December 24 to December 26 and again from December 31 to January 1. Emergency hotlines continue to function around the clock throughout the year.

The Alexandria Health Department along with other health centers will close on major holidays but offer limited service hours on December 31. Museums like Fort Ward Museum and others in the city also face closures during this period, though some museums maintain regular schedules after Christmas Day.

Libraries are set to close completely on major holidays with an early closure at five p.m. on New Year's Eve. Parking enforcement by the Alexandria Police Department is relaxed at metered spaces during holiday periods except where parking is normally prohibited.

Recreation centers across Alexandria will shut down entirely during key holiday dates, with adjusted hours at certain facilities like Minnie Howard Aquatics Facility before New Year’s Day.

Refuse collection services experience delays by one day due to holiday schedules both in late December and early January. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center adjusts its opening days accordingly.

Residents needing language assistance can access free interpretation services through email or phone contact as specified by city authorities.
