There were 4,005 Black students enrolled in Alexandria City Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 1.6% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Alexandria City Public Schools District welcomed 16,439 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 24.4% of the student body to be the third most represented ethnicity in the school.

Alexandria City Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Alexandria City and has a main office in Alexandria.

Among the 18 schools in Alexandria City Public Schools District, Alexandria City High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
