The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is set to conduct street maintenance operations, including repaving and patching, from October 7 to 11. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road within the city. This initiative aims to ensure safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and other users.
Businesses and residents on streets scheduled for repaving will be notified in advance through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will also be posted before work commences. Compliance with these signs is necessary to avoid tickets or towing.
It is important to note that the street repaving list and schedule may change due to various factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, other city projects, and utility work coordination. No operations will occur on September 2 due to a holiday.
During the week of October 7-11, Emerson Avenue from John Carlyle Street to Holland Lane will undergo repaving. For further information or questions, residents are encouraged to visit alexandriava.gov/go/2356 or contact Alex311.
