The City of Alexandria is focusing on making the city more affordable and inclusive through its Children & Youth Community Plan 2025 (CYCP). This plan outlines long-term priorities for providing services to children from birth to 21 years old and their families. The CYCP aims to ensure that all children, youth, and families are physically safe and healthy, academically successful and career-ready, and have positive experiences.

The CYCP Report Card highlights monthly progress in these areas. It examines efforts to make Alexandria a more affordable place to live by preserving and expanding housing affordability. It also looks at how partners are working towards supporting healthy and energy-efficient homes since the plan's approval in April 2021.

The Department of Community and Human Services CYCP Coordinator collaborates with Alexandria City Public Schools and the Alexandria Health Department as part of the City's Unified Implementation Team. Their work aligns strategic plans based on shared goals. The team operates under three guiding principles: trauma-informed approaches, racial equity, and developmental assets.

For more information on resources available for youth in the city or media inquiries, contact CYCP Coordinator Chelsea Eickert at 571.447.8132 or chelsea.eickert@alexandriava.gov.

Reasonable disability accommodations can be requested from Maurice Tomdio at maurice.tomdio@alexandriava.gov or by calling 571.384.5244. Free interpretation services are available via LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703.746.3960.

Alexandria is celebrating its 275th birthday from April through September with events detailed at alexandriava.gov/ALX275.
