City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Monday, February 17, in observance of George Washington's Birthday. The closure affects various city services and facilities.
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) will not hold classes for students on this day. The Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) will operate its bus service according to a Saturday schedule, and its administrative offices will remain closed. The King Street Trolley continues its daily operations from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., providing free service every 15 minutes between King Street Metro and City Hall/Market Square.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) will open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with adoptions starting at noon. For animal emergencies or wildlife concerns, residents can call the provided hotline.

The City's impound lot does not operate during weekends or observed holidays like this one; however, fees accrue on non-holiday weekends.
Libraries across Alexandria will not open their doors on February 17 either. Meanwhile, parking enforcement for metered spaces and residential permit districts is suspended by the Alexandria Police Department but remains in effect for temporary no-parking zones.
Recreation centers such as Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility are available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., though other recreation sites are closed for the day.
Resource recovery services experience a one-day delay in refuse collection during this week due to the holiday schedule adjustment. Curbside food waste collection proceeds without changes.
Lastly, Torpedo Factory Art Center operates normally from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., following its standard hours.
