Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia's 8th district since 2015, recently took to social media to address various issues affecting federal workers and his constituents. Beyer has been vocal about supporting the staff at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and organizing events to aid federal employees.
On March 3, 2025, Beyer shared his experience of standing with NOAA staff after learning about an illegal firing incident. He expressed solidarity with the workers by stating, "Out this morning standing with staff at NOAA, we just heard from a staffer who was illegally fired last week. I came to say to these workers: we stand with you, we will fight for you, and we will help spread the word to the American people about the lifesaving work of NOAA..."
Later that day, Beyer announced his plans for an upcoming resource fair aimed at assisting federal workers and contractors. Scheduled for March 8th at Wakefield High School in Arlington, the event will provide information on various support services. In his post, he stated: "I am organizing a resource fair to support federal workers and contractors on March 8th from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Wakefield High School in Arlington with information on federal workers’ rights, unemployment assistance, mental health support, housing information, and more."
In another tweet posted on March 3rd as well, Beyer succinctly commented on a situation he deemed unethical by saying: "This is corrupt as hell."
