The individual was reportedly detained with "guns drawn" despite offering identification and asserting his citizenship status. Beyer noted that the man, who had been a supporter of former President Trump, is reconsidering his political stance after being targeted due to his Hispanic background: "ICE detained a U.S. citizen in Northern Virginia with guns drawn..."

Later that day, Rep. Beyer criticized former President Trump’s approach to economic policies, describing it as "drunk on power and unleashing economic chaos." He emphasized the need for Congress to reclaim its authority over trade policy to avert potential economic disasters and safeguard international alliances.
