The City of Alexandria is marking Women's History Month this March with a series of events aimed at celebrating the contributions of women. Since 1987, March has been recognized as National Women’s History Month across the United States.

In Alexandria, various venues will host special events throughout the month. Highlights include a specialty tour titled "A Toast to the Ladies!" on March 7 at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, and a Women's History Walk on March 15 starting from the Alexandria Visitor’s Center. Another notable event is a specialty tour focused on midwifery scheduled for March 21 at the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum.

Additionally, Charles E. Beatley Jr. Library will offer "Money Talk for Women" sessions every Tuesday evening, designed to enhance financial literacy among women. An online event titled "How Women’s Liberation Transformed America" is set for March 20.

More information about these events can be found on the City of Alexandria's website at alexandriava.gov/WomensHistoryMonth. The Office of Historic Alexandria provides resources on women's history in the city, including self-guided walking tours and biographies of influential women from Alexandria's past.

For broader resources, individuals are encouraged to explore online exhibits at the National Women’s History Museum and visit the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA). This year, NWHA has chosen "Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations" as its theme for Women's History Month.
