The City of Alexandria is inviting community groups to participate in a program aimed at enhancing local public spaces. Through the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) PARKnerships program, the city is launching its annual initiative to link businesses and organizations with public parks, gardens, trails, and recreational facilities to improve their appearance.

The Community Matching Fund offers financial assistance of up to $50,000 for projects that enhance the city's public environments. Community groups based or operating in Alexandria can apply for this fund. Their proposals should demonstrate an ability to strengthen and improve community well-being through enhancements to parks and recreational areas.

Proposals can be submitted to the RPCA’s PARKnerships program from April 7 to May 26. Starting July 1, 2025, $100,000 in City matching funds will be available. The City will match each dollar raised by the participants, up to a maximum of $50,000, allowing at least four proposals to be chosen. Award amounts may range from $5,000 (for projects totaling $10,000) to $50,000 (for projects totaling $100,000).

Applications can be submitted through the Community Matching Fund page at alexandriava.gov/rpca/community-matching-fund until May 26.
