The City of Alexandria is organizing a stream cleanup event as part of Earth Month celebrations. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, and will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Four Mile Run Park, located at 3700 Commonwealth Avenue.
Participants will convene at the Commonwealth Avenue Cul-de-Sac near the Four Mile Run ballfields, where they will check-in and receive an event briefing. The briefing will include details about the cleanup boundaries, safety instructions, and the importance of maintaining clean waterways.
The initiative is in partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac River Cleanup. Alexandria has been involved in this event for over two decades. The Alice Ferguson Foundation aims to promote environmental stewardship and has been conducting the Potomac River cleanup since 1984.
The City will offer necessary supplies such as gloves, bags, and first aid kits for participants. Attendees are advised to wear long pants and covered shoes and to bring their own water.
While registration is encouraged, it is not mandatory for participation. Interested individuals or those seeking more information can contact Anthony Minnick at Anthony.Minnick@alexandriava.gov. For the complete Earth Month event calendar, visitors are directed to the City’s Earth Month website.
