Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congress member representing Virginia’s 8th district, recently voiced concerns on social media regarding IRS-related matters. Beyer highlighted risks involving financial and administrative operations within the IRS as he addressed alleged illegal activities and leadership challenges within the organization.
On April 15, 2025, Beyer expressed his concerns over potential financial impacts, noting that proposed changes "could cost us *A LOT* of money, more money than Musk's wildly exaggerated claims of 'DOGE' savings just from this alone -- to say nothing of the other damage they are doing at IRS." These concerns were shared via Twitter.
In another post on the same day, Beyer emphasized legal and leadership issues within the IRS, describing certain activities as "so obviously illegal that Trump's IRS chief quit AGAIN." He mentioned the rapid turnover in leadership, remarking, "We are now on the fourth person leading IRS in 2025 and it is April." His comments can be read here.
Lastly, Beyer addressed the chaos at the IRS, stating it would result in high expenditures due to complexity in tax filing and a lack of expertise within the agency. He noted that this creates opportunities for "rich tax cheats to evade enforcement," a sentiment he shared online.
Don Beyer has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Virginia's 8th District, since 2015. He replaced former member Jim Moran and holds a BA from Williams College. Beyer, 72, was born in Trieste and currently resides in Alexandria.
