The City of Alexandria's Resource Recovery Division, together with the Alexandria Library, is organizing a Fix-It Clinic to mark Earth Month on Monday, April 28. The city is seeking volunteers to help with repairing household items and invites attendees interested in learning about the benefits of repairing everyday items.
Volunteers, known as "Fix-It Coaches," will guide attendees in troubleshooting and fixing broken items. The event promotes repair and do-it-yourself skills, encouraging recovery and reuse over disposal.
The Resource Recovery Division seeks volunteers with skills in sewing, basic electronics repair, and watch and jewelry repair. Alexandria residents wanting to repurpose or repair household items are encouraged to participate in the event and learn from the volunteer coaches and Resource Recovery Division staff about the advantages of fixing rather than replacing items.
Information for volunteers or attendees is available online at alexandriava.gov/EarthDay.
