The Alexandria Police Department, in collaboration with various local public safety agencies, will host the second annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The event is scheduled to take place from 5-7 p.m. at the police department's parking lot located at 3600 Wheeler Avenue.

Participating agencies include the Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, Alexandria Fire and EMS Department, Alexandria 311, and the Department of Emergency and Customer Communications. Families are invited to attend this free event where they can trick-or-treat while exploring public safety vehicles and meeting officers and other personnel.

Halloween costumes are encouraged as each agency will distribute candy from decorated vehicle trunks. Attendees can also enjoy DJ music and appearances by seasonal costumed characters.

Lt. Tony Moore of the APD Community Outreach Division stated, “Our Trunk-or-Treat is a safe alternative or an addition to door-to-door trick or treating and provides an opportunity for the community to support our kids and families.” He added that many divisions participate by decorating their trunks to get into the Halloween spirit. "It’s a great way for us to give back to the community and ensure kids have a fun and safe trick-or-treating experience."

Now in its second year, the Alexandria Public Safety Trunk-or-Treat has quickly become a popular fall event. Open to children of all ages, it offers a secure environment for festive activities. The Alexandria Police Foundation has been acknowledged for making this outreach possible.
