The City of Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) is inviting residents to participate in discussions about the allocation of tax dollars for recreation, parks, and cultural activities. The initiative aims to gather public input on how these funds can be best utilized.
Two meetings are scheduled where community members can engage with RPCA staff. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center located at 4653 Taney Ave. The second meeting is set for Wednesday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, situated at 901 Wythe St.
Attendees are encouraged to RSVP and indicate if they require childcare, disability accommodations, or translation services during the meetings. Each session will adhere to the Resource Allocation and Cost Recovery Philosophy, Model, and Policy.
The RPCA operates as a publicly funded park system providing essential services free of charge to the public. To supplement tax revenue and enhance community offerings, cost recovery through user fees and other methods is employed responsibly. Public feedback plays a crucial role in determining how much the community benefits from these services.
