The City of Alexandria has announced that the 2024 vehicle personal property and business personal property tax bills have been mailed. Residents are required to ensure payment is received by October 7, 2024, to avoid penalties and interest. A new penalty structure will be in place starting this year, with late payment penalties increasing from 10% for payments up to 30 days late, to 25% if paid after November 6.

Vehicle personal property tax payments can be submitted online at alexandriava.gov/Payments or mailed to the City of Alexandria's specified address. Business personal property tax payments can also be made through the same online portal or sent via mail to a different designated address.

For those preferring in-person transactions, payments can be made at City Hall or the West End Finance Office during regular business hours. Additionally, a drop box is available at City Hall for round-the-clock submissions; these must be deposited by midnight on October 7 to be considered timely.

Detailed information about vehicle taxes can be found on alexandriava.gov/CarTax, while business tax details are accessible at alexandriava.gov/BusinessTax. For inquiries related to payments or requesting a tax bill, residents can contact the Treasury Division by phone or email. Questions regarding vehicle registration or assessment should be directed via email to vehicletax@alexandriava.gov, and business assessment queries should go to businesstax@alexandriava.gov.

For assistance in Spanish, residents are encouraged to call either 311 or the specific number provided for Alex311 services.
