Detectives from the Alexandria Police Department have charged Zsavon Walters, 29, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that took place on October 4, 2023. Walters, who is not a resident of the city, was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on October 3, 2024. He faces charges of Malicious Wounding and Hit and Run with Personal Injury.

The police department encourages anyone with information regarding this incident to contact APD Detective Gardizi at 703-746-6265. Anonymity for tipsters is assured.

The Alexandria Police Department had been investigating the hit-and-run involving a Penske truck and a 15-year-old male at Montgomery and North Patrick Streets around 3:02 p.m. on October 4. The teenager was taken to a local hospital but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the crash, the driver headed towards George Washington Middle School's rear area, nearly hitting children. A School Resource Officer (SRO) intervened by drawing his service weapon to prevent harm to students and stop the vehicle from advancing toward them. Consequently, the driver fled without causing further injuries. Officers pursued but lost sight of the vehicle.

George Washington Middle School briefly entered "secure the building" status as a precautionary measure during this time. This protocol ensures normal school operations continue inside while restricting entry or exit until safety is confirmed; it lasted less than ten minutes before resuming regular activities.

Authorities later found the suspect vehicle unoccupied at Eisenhower Connector. At that point, no suspects were in custody as officers continued their search for the driver and interviewed witnesses. The community has been urged to assist by providing any information or eyewitness accounts through their non-emergency number (703) 746-4444.

The investigation into this case remains ongoing.
