Early voting starts for Alexandria's dual primary elections

Early voting for the June 18, 2024, Dual Primary Election in Alexandria began on May 3. The election includes contests for Democratic nominations for Mayor and City Council, as well as the Republican nomination for United States Senate. Voters can participate in either primary but not both.

All registered voters in Virginia are eligible to vote by mail or in person. Early voting ends on Saturday, June 15, at 5 p.m. In-person early voting is available at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections located at 132 N. Royal St., Suite 100, from Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., with additional hours on select days.

Mail-in ballot applications must be received by June 7 at 5 p.m. Applications can be submitted online, downloaded from the City’s Elections webpage, or requested by calling Voter Registration & Elections at 703.746.4050. Completed ballots must be returned by June 18 or postmarked by that date and received by noon on June 21.

Ballot drop boxes will be accessible at all polling places on June 18 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a secure outdoor drop box available around the clock until then.

The normal registration deadline is May 28, with Same Day Registration starting May 29 through Election Day on June 18. For further details on voter registration requirements and other election information, visit alexandriava.gov/Elections.
