The Department of Transportation and Environmental Services in Alexandria is tasked with maintaining sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road. Their efforts aim to ensure safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and other users within the city.

Businesses and residents will be notified in advance about street resurfacing through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will also be posted prior to the commencement of work. Adherence to these signs is important to avoid fines or towing.

It is important to note that the street resurfacing schedule may change due to various factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, ongoing projects, and utility work coordination.

The current street resurfacing includes Raleigh Avenue (entire length), North Pelham Street (from Holmes Run Parkway to Taney Avenue), North Vail Street (from Richenbacher Avenue to end), North Dearing Street (from King Street to end), and Fort Worth Avenue (from Fort Williams Parkway to end).

Concrete maintenance efforts include ADA ramp enhancements on West Mount Ida Avenue (Russell Road to Commonwealth Avenue) and West Uhler Avenue (Commonwealth Avenue to Sanford Street). Storm inlet maintenance is scheduled at 1819 North Quaker Lane and 903 North Kemper Street. Service requests for concrete maintenance have been noted at 507 North Patrick Street and North Union Street at Quay Street.

Complete Streets concrete projects are underway with HDCP ramps being constructed at 2470 Mandeville Lane and the intersection of Hickory Street and Kennedy Street.

Pothole repairs are planned for Zones 2, 4, and 10 from April 8-12. For more information or inquiries, visit alexandriava.gov/go/2356 or contact Alex311.
