The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation & Environmental Services is requesting community feedback on the initial design plans for the South Pickett Street Corridor Improvements Project. This initiative aims to improve accessibility and safety for transit users, pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers along South Pickett Street, stretching from Duke Street to Edsall Road. The project aligns with the City's adopted Alexandria Mobility Plan.
Community members have two options to participate in the feedback process: they can complete an online feedback form available from April 18 to May 5 or attend a virtual community meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2024. The meeting can be accessed via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/96859301979 or by dialing +1.301.715.8592 with Meeting ID: 968 5930 1979 and Passcode: 559923.
The initial design was developed based on community input gathered in late 2023, alongside data analysis and an evaluation of existing conditions on the corridor. Following the closure of the community comment period on May 5, the project team will present a recommendation to the Traffic and Parking Board during its June 24 Public Hearing.
