Alexandria residents have the opportunity to learn about the Stormwater Utility Fee Credit Program through a live webinar scheduled for Thursday, December 5, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be hosted on Zoom by the City’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services Stormwater Management Division. During the session, staff will provide details about the program and address questions from participants in a Q&A segment.

The City is accepting applications for the Stormwater Utility Fee Credit Program from December 1 through February 15. Property owners can apply for a reduction of up to 50 percent on their SWU Fee by implementing and maintaining eligible stormwater management practices on their property.

The SWU Fee is charged to all property owners as a separate line item on real estate tax bills. It is determined by the amount of impervious area or hard surfaces present on a property. This fee supports the City’s stormwater management programs, which include flood mitigation capital projects under Flood Action Alexandria and operational activities such as storm inlet and pipe cleaning.

Approved credits are valid for two years.

For those requiring reasonable disability accommodation, contact 703.746.3960 or Virginia Relay at 711.
