The City of Alexandria has announced that applications for seven affordable homeownership units at Aidan Old Town will be accepted starting Friday, March 15, and ending Monday, April 15. Aidan Old Town is a new condominium community located at 701 North Henry Street in Alexandria, Virginia. The development is expected to open in August 2024.

The available units include five one-bedroom units priced at $175,000 and two two-bedroom units priced at $225,000. These homes are designated for income-eligible, first-time homebuyers who live or work in Alexandria. Notably, one of the two-bedroom units is designed to be handicap accessible.

Due to expected high demand, a lottery system will determine which eligible homebuyers can purchase these units. Details about the affordable units, application requirements, the lottery process, and downpayment assistance will be available on Homebuyer Resources starting March 15. Applications submitted before this date will not be considered.

Prospective buyers are encouraged to register for a free Virginia Housing first-time homebuyer training session. The next session in English and Spanish is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., taking place at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center located at 2701 Commonwealth Avenue in Alexandria. Additional training sessions can be found on the Virginia Housing website.

For those requiring communication in languages other than English, free interpretation and translation services are offered by contacting LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.3960.

Further information regarding resources and services provided by the City of Alexandria Office of Housing can be accessed through alexandriava.gov/Housing.
