Rep. Don Beyer, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, recently expressed his views on federal workers and government operations through a series of tweets. These tweets were posted on February 12, 2025.

In his first tweet, Rep. Beyer emphasized the critical role of federal workers in maintaining the health and security of Americans. He stated, "Federal workers and their expertise are vital to Americans’ health and security. They work everyday to protect us from disease, crime, and threats foreign and domestic. Continuing with his concerns about political influence in civil service, Rep. Beyer noted that laws were enacted to preserve a professional workforce based on merit rather than political loyalty. He criticized actions by former President Trump by stating that "Congress passed laws to ensure that the federal civil service is a professional, career workforce selected and promoted based on skill and merit, not on political loyalty. Finally, Rep. Beyer addressed issues related to Elon Musk's involvement with government contracts and political donations. He remarked that "Musk is personally profiting from government contracts and using a position he bought with over $250 million in donations to Donald Trump to increase his own power and wealth." He further questioned the decision-making authority being turned over to Musk without disclosure of business holdings.
