Alexandria, VA – The Office of Historic Alexandria is encouraging local residents and supporters to contribute to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Freedom House Museum, a National Historic Landmark, during the Spring2ACTion event on April 9, 2025.
The Freedom House Museum stands as a significant historical site in Alexandria, once housing the largest domestic slave-trading operation in the U.S. "Once the site of the largest domestic slave-trading operation in the United States, now stands as a powerful reminder of our past, honoring the lives impacted by slavery and inspiring dialogue on justice, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of freedom," said Gretchen Bulova, Director of the Office of Historic Alexandria. Fundraising efforts through Spring2ACTion aim to directly support museum rehabilitation, improve accessibility, and enhance visitor experiences.
Organized by ACT for Alexandria, Spring2ACTion is a 24-hour online fundraising drive encouraging community involvement in various causes. Contributions can be made on the event’s website, https://www.spring2action.org/p2p/406641/historicalexandria, leading up to and on the day of the event, April 9, 2025.
