Registration for the City of Alexandria's 2024 Summer Camps is set to open on Wednesday, February 21, for City residents, and on Friday, February 23, for non-residents. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities is offering a wide range of camp options for youth aged 2 to 17, including sports, creative arts, computers, nature, performing arts, excursions, STEM, Camp Adventure, Out of School Time, and classic camps.

According to the City of Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities, the 2024 Summer of Smiles Summer Camps Guide contains 75 camp options for youth. The guide is available online and in print at all City of Alexandria recreation centers. It is recommended for campers to participate in a different camp each week to make the most out of their summer experience. To help with summer planning, the department has provided a Summer Fun Finder on the inside covers of the guide.

Extended care options are also available for select camps. Before Care, from 7 to 9 a.m., and After Care, from 4 to 6 p.m., offer structured activities such as arts and crafts, movies, and games, giving parents extra time and enhancing the fun for campers.

For those interested in registering, there are two options available. Registration can be done online or in person at any of the City's recreation facilities. For more information, individuals can visit the website alexandriava.gov/Recreation or contact the Registration and Reservation Office at 703.746.5414.

To stay up-to-date with all events and news from the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities, individuals can follow them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Additionally, the department provides free interpretation and translation services for those who prefer communication in another language. This can be accessed by emailing LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.3960.

For individuals requiring reasonable disability accommodation, the department advises contacting Jackie Person at jackie.person@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.5423. Virginia Relay 711 is also available for those who require this service.

Registration for the City of Alexandria's 2024 Summer Camps is just around the corner. With a wide variety of camps available, there is something for everyone. Don't miss out on the opportunity to plan out your summer and create lasting memories.
