The city of Alexandria is set to host a variety of events in the coming weeks, offering residents and visitors a chance to engage with local history, culture, and community activities.
One highlight is the "Death at the City Hotel" event at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum on October 26. Attendees will explore Civil War-era deaths at the hotel through storytelling and activities, shedding light on historical medical and grieving practices.
The Alexandria Cider Festival will take place on November 23 at Lloyd House. This outdoor event includes cider tastings, live music, tavern games, and food trucks. Proceeds will benefit Historic Alexandria Museums.
Historic Alexandria has been selected for the Museum Social Impact in Practice cohort by the American Alliance of Museums. This initiative aims to measure and analyze social impact across museums nationwide.
For families, Carlyle House Historic Park offers a Halloween Hunt from October 24-31. Young participants can learn about early 20th-century Halloween traditions while solving puzzles for prizes.
