Alexandria police conduct felony traffic stop; arrest man wanted in Loudoun County

This afternoon, the Alexandria Police Department conducted a felony traffic stop on King Street, resulting in the arrest of a man wanted in Loudoun County. The incident occurred at approximately 12:56 p.m. when officers stopped a vehicle and discovered a commercial-grade smoke bomb.

The Alexandria Fire Department, APD K9 Unit, and Arlington County Bomb Squad were called to assist at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was charged with driving with a suspended license. The passenger, a 30-year-old man from Alexandria, was apprehended on felony charges originating from Loudoun County.

During the investigation, King Street near Daingerfield Road between Commonwealth Avenue/Daingerfield and Harvard Street was closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The area was reopened by 3:09 p.m.
