The Alexandria Police Department (APD) has honored four of its members with the Employee of the Quarter Awards. This recognition is part of the department's effort to acknowledge exceptional service and accomplishments within both the agency and the community. Personnel from each division are nominated for their contributions, and awards are presented quarterly.
In a ceremony held in October, Interim Chief of Police Raul Pedroso awarded the honorees, stating, “What you all share is a passion for policing, a calling to this noble profession that has remained with you. Always stay true to your heart. It will not fail you.”
Officer Kurt Wiegand from the Field Operations Bureau was recognized for his actions during a residential fire on North Armistead. Before firefighters arrived, Wiegand helped evacuate several residents trapped by smoke and flames on a third-floor balcony by using a ladder he procured from a construction worker.
