The Alexandria Police Department was involved in a shooting incident that led to a fatality at 5101 Maris Avenue. The event occurred on August 12, around 10:46 p.m., when officers responded to a service call at the location. Upon arrival, they encountered an adult male armed with a firearm in the stairwell of the building. This confrontation resulted in an officer-involved shooting, and the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The regional Critical Incident Response Team is handling the investigation. According to reports, there were no other injuries related to this incident.
