On June 18, 2024, the City of Alexandria will hold a Dual Primary Election. Polls are scheduled to operate from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The city has outlined several ways for voters to prepare for this day.

Voters in Virginia have the option to vote early. The deadline for early voting is set for Saturday, June 15, at 5 p.m., with voting taking place at the Office of Voter Registration and Elections located at 132 N. Royal St., Suite 100.

For those voting on Election Day, it is important to verify their designated polling place as polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Changes have been made to some polling locations: voters from the former South Port Apartments Precinct will now vote at Tucker School, while those from Masonic Temple Precinct should head to Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. Two new precincts have also been established in the West End.

The ballot will include contests for Democratic nominations for Mayor and City Council or Republican nomination for United States Senate. Voters may participate in either primary but not both.

Identification is required before voting; acceptable forms include a Virginia driver’s license or U.S. passport among others listed on the Virginia Department of Elections website. Voters without ID can sign an ID confirmation statement and vote with a regular ballot; otherwise, they must use a provisional ballot.

Voters planning to cast their votes late in the day must ensure they are in line by 7 p.m., as anyone arriving later will not be allowed to vote.

Same Day Registration is available for those who missed the normal registration period ending May 28. This requires being in the correct locality and polling location where they will receive a provisional ballot.

Assistance is available through the Office of Voter Registration & Elections by calling 703-746-4050 or contacting an election officer if needed.

After polls close on Election Day, unofficial results will be posted on the Virginia Department of Elections website, with official results certified after canvassing by state and local Electoral Boards.

For further inquiries or reasonable disability accommodations, contact details are provided: voters@alexandriava.gov or angela.turner@alexandriava.gov along with phone numbers including Virginia Relay service.
