The City of Alexandria has announced the opening of its outdoor pools and the Potomac Yard Interactive Fountain for the 2024 season. The facilities will be available to residents and visitors starting Saturday, May 25.

To encourage participation, a 15% discount on season passes is offered to residents from May 1 through May 31. Passes can be purchased in person at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility or any city outdoor pool beginning May 25. Teen passes for ages 13-17 are priced at $39 for the entire season.

The Potomac Yard Park Interactive Fountain features 36 water jets with programmable sequences and sensors to adjust water height based on current conditions. A secondary ultraviolet water treatment system enhances public safety. Operating hours are daily from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., and from Labor Day weekend to mid-October, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

Three outdoor pools will offer scheduled programming and open swim opportunities:

Old Town Pool includes eight lap lanes, a diving well, and a training pool suitable for small children. It is open various hours from May 25 through September 1, with specific holiday hours on May 27, June 19, July 4, and September 2.

Memorial Pool at Charles Houston Recreation Center is ideal for families with young children due to its beach entry design. It operates on weekends starting May 25-26 and extends weekday operations from June 17-August 9.

Warwick Pool offers a six-lane lap pool with an accessible ramp and beach entry. It opens weekends from May 25-September 1, with additional weekday hours during certain periods.

For more information about the outdoor pool season or reasonable disability accommodations, visit alexandriava.gov/Aquatics or contact the city via email or phone as provided in their announcement.
