The City of Alexandria is inviting its community to join the National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 17. This annual event promotes bicycle commuting as a cost-effective, enjoyable, and eco-friendly transportation option.
Residents of Alexandria will join thousands of commuters in celebrating by cycling to designated pit stops and participating in events throughout the city and region. Participants can register for activities at one of six pit stops in Alexandria via biketoworkmetrodc.org.
The pit stops include City Hall - Market Square from 7 to 10 a.m., John Carlyle Square Park from 6 to 9 a.m., Del Ray/Colasanto Park from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m., Fairlington Centre from 6:30 to 9 a.m., Mark Center North Parking Garage from 7 to 9 a.m., Eisenhower Square from 7 to 9 a.m., and National Landing from 3 to 6 p.m.
"The City-sponsored pit stop at City Hall will have grab-and-go refreshments, free swag, a 360 photo booth, DJ and so much more!" said an official statement.
Participation in Bike to Work Day is free but requires registration. Those who register before the event can collect a commemorative t-shirt at their chosen pit stop while supplies last. The event is part of the city's celebration of National Bike Month.
