The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is undertaking maintenance and repair work on sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of road. The initiative aims to keep infrastructure in good condition for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Residents and businesses on streets scheduled for resurfacing will receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted before work begins to prevent tickets and towing.

The street resurfacing list and schedule are subject to change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, other city projects, and utility work coordination.

From May 6-12, the following streets are scheduled for resurfacing:

- West Mount Ida Avenue (from Commonwealth Ave to Russell Road)

- 100 block of North Royal Street (from King Street to Cameron Street)

- Queen Street (from North West Street to North Union Street)

- Potomac Greens (from Slaters Lane to end)

- Washington Street (from Cameron Street to First Street)

Recently completed projects include:

- Intersection of King Street, Callahan Drive, and Russell Road

- East and West Mason Avenue (from Stonewall Road to end)

- West Uhler Avenue (from Sanford Street to Commonwealth Avenue)

- Clyde Avenue (from East Bellefonte Avenue to East Uhler Avenue)

- East and West Del Ray Avenue (from Russell Road to La Grande Avenue)

Concrete maintenance projects scheduled for May include HDCP ramp installations at Leslie Avenue & Dewitt Avenue and Mandeville Lane. Service requests have been made for locations like 130 Wesmond Drive and 3737 Edison Street.

Storm inlet maintenance will occur on Sanford Street and at 1819 North Quaker Lane. Hydrant restoration is planned for North Dearing Street.

ADA ramp enhancements along with curb and gutter work are set for various locations including the 100 block of North Royal Street from King Street to Cameron Street.
