The City of Alexandria has announced that its annual RecFest event will proceed as planned, albeit with a change in venue due to anticipated rain. Originally scheduled for an outdoor setting, the festival will now be held indoors at Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School, located at 435 Ferdinand Day Drive. The event is set for Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
RecFest is designed to offer free activities suitable for all ages and highlights various programs including fitness, sports, enrichment, arts, nature exploration, out-of-school time initiatives, and summer camps offered by the city. Attendees can expect demonstrations and opportunities to meet instructors and connect with city partners and staff.
Despite the venue change, the Fun Walk originally planned from 9-10 a.m. has been canceled. However, other activities such as yoga sessions, line dancing classes, music performances, arts and crafts workshops, LEGO building tables, face painting stations among others will continue as scheduled.
