The City of Alexandria marks its 275th anniversary with events spanning from April through September, as detailed on the ALX275 webpage. Among the activities is the "Buried Ships of Robinson Landing" exhibit, which opened on April 6 and will be available for viewing through the end of the year at Robinson Landing Gallery.

In addition to this exhibit, a range of events are scheduled across Alexandria. The Freedom House Museum hosts "Searching for Truth in the Garden," a traveling exhibition running until April 15 that explores slavery through the story of Gabriel, an enslaved teenager.

Efforts to address preservation issues at Douglass Cemetery will be discussed during a meeting on April 9 at Nannie J. Lee Memorial Recreation Center. The City staff and various groups aim to resolve flooding problems and highlight the cemetery's historical significance.

On April 13, several events are planned including a Civil War walking tour at Lee-Fendall House, free story time for children at Alexandria Black History Museum, and a whisky tasting fundraiser at The Lyceum supporting cultural exchanges between Alexandria and its sister cities.

Further cultural offerings include a lecture by Dr. Alison Mann on Dorcas Allen’s case on April 18 and Gadsby's Tavern Museum Society's Spring Fling featuring jazz music and auctions on April 20.

The Joseph McCoy Remembrance event will take place on April 23 at Penny Hill Cemetery. This commemoration includes remarks and a wreath-laying ceremony marking McCoy’s lynching in 1897.

A community cookout follows later that day at Ewald Park. Attendees can enjoy food, games, and activities aimed at fostering community connections.

Donations are encouraged to support ongoing exhibitions like Moss Kendrix coming in June, with more details available via Spring2Action.org.

For those interested in exploring further cultural connections, the Alexandria-Caen Sister City Committee will host a Spring Jazz Fête on May 4 featuring live music and French cuisine.

Alexandria's museums offer various programs supported by city funding along with donations to fulfill their strategic goals. Residents can access these museums without charge while non-residents may incur fees depending on specific events or exhibits they wish to attend.
