Alexandrians are invited to participate in the 14th Annual Spring2ACTion day of giving, scheduled for Wednesday, April 24. The event is organized by ACT for Alexandria and offers a 24-hour online platform for donors to support local nonprofits and causes. Participants are encouraged to "Spring2ACTion" and contribute to the community.
Last year, the initiative saw 8,331 donors contributing a total of $2.96 million to 186 nonprofits serving Alexandria. This year, the goal is set at attracting 10,000 donors with a target of raising $2 million.
The event supports various organizations within the city that provide essential services such as food, shelter, animal rescue, tutoring, and arts support. Donations can be made on April 24 or through early giving until April 23. This effort aims to maintain Alexandria as a strong and vibrant community.
Participating organizations include the Alexandria Library Foundation, Alexandria Police Foundation, Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center, Historic Alexandria Museums, Project Discovery of Alexandria, Space of Her Own Inc., The Fund for Alexandria's Child, and Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Fund.
