The City of Alexandria has released the findings from a resident satisfaction survey conducted by ETC Institute. The survey, which took place between April and June 2023, aimed to assess residents' views on various city services and their overall quality of life.
Designed to capture perceptions citywide, the survey involved a random and representative sample of residents. Participants provided feedback on transportation, public safety, economic opportunities, and city government services. The results show that Alexandria residents are generally satisfied with the city's performance in areas such as customer service, library services, and trash collection.
Key findings highlight that residents expressed strong satisfaction with city services overall, rating them significantly higher than national averages. Respondents also viewed Alexandria positively as a desirable place to live due to its quality of life. However, the survey identified areas for improvement like affordable housing, stormwater management, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The City of Alexandria plans to use these insights to guide future decisions and improve residents' quality of life. By addressing identified areas for improvement while building on existing strengths, the city aims to maintain its status as a thriving community.
The complete survey results can be found on the Office of Performance Analytics website.
