The Alexandria West Planning Project has released a revised draft plan dated August 23, now available for public review. This draft, along with a staff report and other materials, is part of the agenda for the September 5 Planning Commission meeting. While the design guidelines for AlexWest are still being developed, they will be considered by both the Planning Commission and City Council later this fall.

Public comments from the June 25 draft plan and corresponding staff responses have been published on the project webpage. The public is invited to provide testimony either in person or via Zoom at upcoming hearings scheduled for September 5 and September 14. Information regarding these hearings can be found on the docket.

To ensure accessibility, language interpretation services in Spanish, Amharic, and Arabic will be available during both public hearings. Christian Brandt is available to answer questions or receive public comments before these hearings via email at christian.brandt@alexandriava.gov or by phone at 703.746.3895.

Updates about the AlexWest Plan will continue through eNews, WhatsApp, community groups, and the project webpage where background information and schedules are also accessible.

For disability accommodations, contact Lisa Chase at 703.746.3831 or Virginia Relay at 711. Free interpretation and translation services are offered; reach out via LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3960.
