Get ready to celebrate the holidays with family and friends at A Very Merry ALX Jazz Fest this Friday night. This event, organized by the Office of the Arts, will take place at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial in Old Town Alexandria as part of the ALX Jazz Fest 2024 season. It promises a mix of live music, art projects, and poetry suitable for all ages.
The festival begins with a pre-mingle from 5-7 p.m., featuring a DJ set by DJ One Luv, drinks for sale by Port City Brewing Company, light appetizers, complimentary coffee and hot tea, and exhibitions by artists David Amoroso, Ngoc ‘Naomi’ Le, and Bex Novak. Visitors can also tour the Masonic Memorial Observation Deck during this time.
From 7-9 p.m., attendees can enjoy jazz and poetry performances in the Memorial Theater. The program includes an opening by Master of Ceremonies Sean Murphy at 7 p.m., followed by jazz from Night and Day Music at 7:15 p.m., poetry by Poet Laureate Zeina Azzam at 8 p.m., jazz from Wes Biles & Friends at 8:15 p.m., and a special appearance by Santa Claus at 8:50 p.m.
Free parking is available at the Masonic Memorial. Alternatively, visitors can use Metrorail’s Blue or Yellow lines to reach the King Street-Old Town Station.
