January marks National Mentoring Month, and the Alexandria Mentorship Partnership (AMP) is actively seeking mentors to participate in their programs. The initiative aims to help children by providing them with a stronger sense of belonging while mitigating risks such as crime, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, poor school performance, and gang involvement.

The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) has organized special opportunities through AMP during this month. An Open House event will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Campagna Center located at 418 S. Washington Street. Attendees can enjoy interactive games and food while learning how they can become mentors. Registration details are available online.

Further information about mentoring programs can be found at alexandriava.gov/mentoring. Interested individuals may also reach out via email at mentoring@alexandriava.gov or call 703-746-4455 for more details.

A quote from Dr. Seuss encapsulates the spirit of mentoring: "To the world, you may be one person; but to one person you may be the world."

For those requiring reasonable disability accommodation, Linda Odell is available for contact at linda.odell@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703-746-4144, Virginia Relay 711.

Additionally, free interpretation and translation services are offered for those who prefer communication in another language. Inquiries can be directed to LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703-746-3960.
