Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia's 8th district since 2015, recently shared his views on Twitter regarding political and administrative issues. On January 28, 2025, he addressed concerns about Russ Vought's potential nomination as Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Beyer stated that "Russ Vought devised these illegal holds on funding for disaster relief, medical research, student aid, child care, and nutrition, as well as purges of the federal workforce." He further expressed apprehension that if confirmed, Vought would continue such practices for four years and urged the Senate to reject his nomination.

Later that day, Beyer commented on an issue concerning health care funding under the Trump Administration. At 19:04 UTC on January 28, he tweeted that "The Trump Administration is 'unsure' about whether or not they just shut off the program that funds health care for 90 million Americans."

Following up shortly after at 19:05 UTC, Beyer confirmed the situation by stating succinctly in another tweet "The answer to that question is yes they did."
